Baume & Mercier has been manufacturing watches since 1830. They have some of the most elegant watches for women at great price points! It also doesn’t hurt that they are owned by the same group that owns Cartier, The Richemont Group. The Hampton collection for Baume & Mercier has always been strong and iconic.
When I was in retail many moons ago, Baume & Mercier’s ladies watches were like the Cartier Tank watch at almost half the price. I am happy to report that this still holds true today. The newest versions of the Baume & Mercier Hampton on a bracelet is a great ladies watch for under 3k! The Hampton ref#10049 model in stainless steel without diamonds is $2,500 retail and the same model ref#10050 with diamonds is $2,950 retail. That’s a hell of a value from one of the most reputable and historic brands out there today. When you compare it to the Cartier Tank Francaise in stainless steel without diamonds which retails for $3,750 and the same watch with diamonds which retails for $4,750, the Baume & Mercier Hampton is a bargain. The only thing I wish was that the Baume & Mercier was automatic. Both the B&M Hampton and Cartier Tank Francaise are quartz battery driven watches. It still a great value for what it is!
The Baume & Mercier Hampton has serious chops in terms of styling, design, functionality and quality build. Even though it may feel similar to the Cartier, it completely stands on its own. Both versions are 34.5mm in case diameter and have date functions. The non-diamond version has applied gold Arabic Numerals and hands while the diamond version has a mother of pearl dial with 8 diamonds set on the dial. The diamond version is a great value for just $450 more than the non-diamond version.
