Rolex Rolled Out A NEW Warranty Card For 2020!
Hey Watch Fans!
I hope you are keeping safe! I wanted to let you know that Rolex has rolled out a NEW warranty card for 2020. Whats so special about this? Well, for starters It combines technology and simplicty at it’s finest! Rolex is the industry leader on all things watches, yet critics argue that Rolex was behind the curve in terms of taking their warranty into the digitial age. For those of you who are unaware, Rolex set an industry standard when they introduced a five year international warranty about 5 years ago. Since then, a bunch of different brands including AP. Panerai and others have gone digital in some capacity and have extended their warranty to five or more years.
The previous generation warranty card was made out of plastic like a credit card as pictured below and had the style #, serial #, bracelet # and dial code printed on the front of rhe card and on the back the official Rolex retailer’s name is printed, a space for the purchaser beneath that and a space for the date beneath that.
The NEW Rolex warranty card for 2020 pictured below the previous generation warranty card is more streamlined. This is also made out of plastic like a credit card and is Rolex Green with “Rolex” written in gold at the top on the front of the card with “Garantie Internationale” written in white towards the bottom of the card with “International Guarantee” written underneath that in gold.
On the back of the card at the top it says, “This guarantee is valid only if dated by Rolex Retailer at time of purchase” in white in French and the same thing written in English in gold underneath that. Towards the bottom of the card on the back, you have the model # printed, then the serial number, then the date. The space for purchaser has been removed. This really served no function other than a nice personal touch. By removing the name from the card it makes the process simpler and easier overall.
For this new warranty card, Rolex partnered up with the c/c company, M/C. This card has several chips inside it. Each individual watch is tied to a warranty not a specific person. This warranty has to be activated by the authorized retailer/boutique at point of sale. For this, Rolex partnered with Apple, who developed a special phone to activate Rolex warranties. Each retail partner or boutique is equipped with this phone to activate the Rolex warranty. If there is a problem with the phone, Rolex requires that it be sent back to them.
The nice thing about the card when it is being activated is there is no personal info of the purchaser inputed, the phone merely scans the warranty to vaildate and activate it.

Due to the unpredictable and volatile market on certain Rolex, Patek Philippe and Audemars Piguet watches, prices are subject to change.
