A Legacy of Military-Grade Precision

In October 2024, TUDOR unveiled the new Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time, a watch built to honor its deep-rooted military heritage. After finally trying one on, I knew I had to share my experience.
Since the 1950s, TUDOR has been supplying the French Navy with reliable dive watches built for extreme conditions. The Pelagos FXD, introduced in 2021, featured fixed strap bars, reinforcing its military-grade durability. In 2024, the lineup expanded with the FXD GMT Zulu Time, designed specifically for the Aéronautique Navale (French Naval Aviation).
Engaging with the NEW Tudor Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time

On March 18th, I stopped by my local TUDOR retailer, and to my surprise, I spotted the new Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time in the display case. Naturally, I had to try it on—and it exceeded my expectations!
Comfort & Strap Impressions

From the online photos, I wasn’t sure how the green one-piece fabric strap with a titanium pin buckle would look or feel. Trying it on changed everything. The strap was incredibly comfortable, perfectly complementing the Grade 2 titanium case and enhancing its rugged tool-watch aesthetic.
More than just a design choice, the green strap matches the flight suits worn by French Naval Aviators, reinforcing its military inspiration. The removable fabric keeper at 12 o’clock, featuring the French Naval Aviation roundel, is a subtle yet powerful nod to its military roots.
Dial Details That Won Me Over

The dial sealed the deal for me. The beige indices were more understated in person than in photos, while the matte black dial provided excellent contrast. The orange GMT hand, ensuring ultimate visibility, perfectly matched the “Pelagos GMT” text, creating a cohesive look.
The bi-directional titanium bezel with a ceramic insert enhances functionality and durability. Meanwhile, the “Master Chronometer” and 200m depth rating, displayed in white, keep the design clean and well-balanced
Under the hood

At its core, the Pelagos FXD GMT Zulu Time runs on the MT5652-U chronometer-certified movement, while in addition achieving METAS Master Chronometer certification. This guarantees exceptional accuracy, magnetic resistance, and reliability.
With a 65-hour power reserve, it delivers outstanding performance, making it a true tool watch built for professionals.
The bottom line

Photos don’t do this watch justice. The moment I tried it on, my curiosity turned into an instant obsession. No other major luxury brand offers this level of value, precision, durability, and military heritage for $4,700—all in a METAS-certified, titanium-built GMT tool watch.
