NOMOS Unveils 31 Limited-Edition Tangente Watches for 175th Anniversary
Bauhaus design masters, NOMOS Glashütte has introduced 31 limited-edition color variants of its popular Tangente 38 Date watch in celebration of the 175th anniversary of watchmaking in Glashütte. This special release features a spectrum of 31 colorways ranging from classic to whimsical, ensuring a choice for every taste.
Collection Details
This collection represents an extensive offering of color variations, each limited to 175 pieces. It reflects the diversity of personal styles and preferences, mirroring how other iconic product designs from global brands have historically offered customization options to reflect individual tastes.
Design and Construction
The limited-edition models maintain the same design specifications as the standard Tangente 38 Date watches, featuring 37.5mm polished stainless steel cases, flat sapphire crystals, and water resistance up to 30 meters. These watches are paired with either light or dark gray woven textile straps and are powered by NOMOS’s manual-wind Caliber DUW 4101 movement, which offers a 42-hour power reserve.
Unique Features of the Movement
The DUW 4101 movement is notable for its calendar disc placement around the movement rather than on top, facilitating a thinner design. This setup allows the date window to be positioned nearer to the dial’s edge, enhancing visual balance. Each model’s calendar disc is uniquely finished to complement the overall color scheme of the watch.
Colorways and Naming
NOMOS has also released an infographic detailing the names and color schemes of each variant, with names ranging from the German “Schneesturm” (blizzard) representing a white, black, and blue color scheme, to straightforward names like “Bubblegum” and “Lemonbiscuit.” Translation from German is provided where necessary to aid understanding of the color inspirations.
Availability and Pricing
In total, 5,425 watches were produced or 175 pieces per colorway. Despite being limited editions, these watches are priced at $2,310, slightly less than their standard counterparts, reflecting NOMOS’s commitment to making these unique pieces accessible to a broad audience.
