NEW Tudor Black Bay GMT on an oyster riveted style bracelet
NEW Tudor Black Bay GMT on a “TERRA DI SIENA” BROWN LEATHER STRAP
NEW Tudor Black Bay GMT on a black hand-woven nylon strap with red stripe
My prayers have finally been answered! Tudor knocked it out of the park with the release of the NEW Black Bay GMT at Baselworld 2018! I have always wanted a vintage Rolex GMT-Master red and blue bezel from the fifties and this NEW Tudor Black Bay GMT is the modern day answer. This is going to be one of the hottest watches at Baselworld 2018! The NEW Tudor Black Bay GMT is available in three different variations; one on a steel riveted oyster style bracelet for $3,900 retail, one fitted with a “TERRA DI SIENA” BROWN LEATHER STRAP for $3,575 and one on a black hand woven nylon strap with a red stripe down the middle for $3,575. Both the stainless steel riveted oyster style bracelet and brown leather strap versions come with an additional hand-woven nylon black strap with a red stripe down the middle. All those vintage Rolex collectors who are still on the fence about Tudor will break right through and take the plunge because this has vintage Rolex DNA written all over it!
The best part besides the price is that it is fitted with the in-house MT5652 C.O.S.C certified movement with 70-hour power reserve. I love my first generationTudor Black Bay Black because it reminds me of a mid-century vintage Submariner and this NEW Tudor GMT will be a more than welcomed edition. When you look at the NEW Rolex “Pepsi” GMT Master II that was just released (which you can read about HERE) and this watch they are completely different. You can see how much more modern Rolex is as a brand than Tudor. The classic 41mm stainless steel Black Bay case features a matte burgundy and blue bezel, which are nods to the vintage GMT-Master models from the fifties. I love how bold and clean the execution of this watch is in every way. The dial is black and easy to read. I like that it doesn’t have too much writing on it, respecting their past. A third red GMT snowflake hand has been added for GMT function. I am NOT a fan of the date but then again, historically the GMT always had a date function. This is a true GMT in that the local time (hour hand) can be adjusted in one-hour increments, the date is instantaneously jumping, stop seconds for precise setting, silicon balance spring. Since this is a Black Bay, the watch is water resistant to 200 meters. I think this particular watch is going to transcend Tudor’s appeal to a much more mainstream audience globally and finally get the recognition that it more than deserves!
