I am a massive fan of the classics, especially with wrist watches. The Breguet Classique exemplifies this and is one of my favorite dress watches of all time! To read my article on the regular three handed Breguet Classique, click here .
This Baselworld 2017, Breguet released a NEW Classique ref 7147. This watch breaks my rule of symmetry, but I love it! It’s even cooler than the original version! What makes this watch unique is the off center sub seconds hand located between the five and six o’clock position. There is this very cool dimple which is recessed into the dial for this sub seconds hand which give it depth and character. This is available in white and rose gold and is 40 mm in case diameter. I love that this watch is dateless unlike the regular model which has a date function located at the traditional three o’clock position. It has double sapphire crystals, welded lugs with screw bars, and it is water resistant to 30 meters.
The movement is the Swiss automatic Breguet in-house extra-thin (2.4mm) caliber 502.3SD with 35 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 45 hours. Inverted in-line lever escapement with silicon horns. Balance spring in silicon. Adjusted to 6 positions. It features Côtes de Genève finishing and Clous de Paris hobnailing.
There are two dial options for this watch, one is a white Dial in Grand Feu enamel. Hours chapter with Arabic Breguet numerals. Small seconds offset at 5 o’clock. Breguet open-tipped hands in blued steel. The other is a silver dial with unique pattern and Roman numeral with the same Breguet open-tipped hands in steel blue. Personally, I prefer the white dial in Gran Feu enamel because it’s much cleaner and easier to read.
This watch should be available in the next couple of month’s and should retails for $21,000 in white gold and $21,500 in rose gold.
