Last year, we at Kingsley 1945 watches were commissioned by a yacht company to design and produce a watch with a compass dial. Once again, my business partner and good friend Ramon Kingsley outdid himself and came up with a steel Type 1 case and a steel bronze pvd bezel with a blue dial that has the compass points of N, S, E,W laser cut or etched into the dial as pictured above. This watch is known as “O-K”. We made a run of fifty pieces which were all spoken for by the yacht company. The reception by our “Members” was so overwhelming that we had to do a production piece to accommodate our incredibly loyal and passionate following.
This is the first watch that made me appreciate and want to own something with two different metals. When you see what is available in steel and gold colored options for men, usually they are very tacky and downright disgusting. This steel bronze pvd coated bezel on this phenomenal NEW timepiece breaths life and makes it masculine, utilitarian and dressy all at the same time. I was lucky enough to get my hands on one thanks to my business partner who is the best!
So whats the difference between the original version we did for the yacht company and this NEW production version? Well, the NEW production version doesn’t have the “O-K” designation on the dial. It reads Kingsley under the N compass point at the twelve o’clock position and No 1945, Self winding, Mechanical above the S compass point above the six o’clock position as you see pictured above.
The original one we did for the yacht company reads Kingsley under the N compass point at the twelve o’clock position and 1945, “O-K”, Automatic above the S compass point at the six o’clock position.
The original version was equipped with a very reliable, shock resistant professional automatic movement. Both watches have a custom rotor designed by Ramon to make it more unique and interesting. This NEW production version has a vintage inspired automatic movement.
As much as this is a NEW production version and it has already done very well for us, it’s still quite limited and numbered like all Kingsley 1945 watches. It takes two-three weeks to hand assemble from the date of purchase and retails for $1,600. There are other variations of this watch but this is considered customizable and costs more money.
