For those of you newbies out there who don’t know who Buzz Aldrin is, he is an American engineer and former astronaut. As the Lunar Module Pilot on Apollo 11, he was one of the first two humans to land on the Moon, and the second person to walk on it. He set foot on the Moon at 03:15:16 on July 21, 1969 (UTC), following mission commander Neil Armstrong. He is a former U.S. Air Force officer with the Command Pilot rating.
So it was amazing to see on Buzz Aldrin’s Twitter feed that he has begun his design of a Mars watch for Omega watches. One of the Hastags read GYATM(Get your ass to Mars) as you can see on his t-shirt above. Underneath the tweet there is a split picture. On one side you see Buzz with a pen/pencil in his hand drawing out a sketch of a watch and on the other side you see him with a guy who could be some sort of Omega official showing him these possible sketches.
I must say at 86 years old Buzz looks amazing for his age and shows no signs of slowing down. If this Tweet is on the up and up, this means we are going to see a NEW generation of an Omega Speedmaster Mars watch designed by one of the most legendary living astronauts to walk the moon. His conviction to design a watch to goes to Mars also implies that he is serious that man will go to Mars one day sooner than we think! Please stay tuned for more details!
