With watches it’s all about the subtle nuances that can make collectors go crazy in a good or bad way. Even though some that may consider themselves collectors don’t even own a nice time piece, they are an important part of the watch industry fabric.
This year at Baselworld 2016, Tudor released the very well received Tudor Black Bay Dark! This was their answer to the public’s demand for a blackened Rolex Submariner of some sort.
This watch is steel with black PVD coating throughout the entire watch including the case and bracelet. This matte black brushed PVD coating gives the appearance of a military spec or feel.
Unlike so many brands that don’t listen or care about their customers, Tudor has decided to change the bracelet that was on the original Black Bay Dark model that debuted at Baselworld 2016. I guess the general consensus was the original black brushed PVD oyster style bracelet didn’t look right because the bracelet didn’t fit flush into the case as in the first picture above. Tudor was trying to mix modernity and vintage. The original Tudor Submariners from the fifties like the unique Black Bay One model released last year had a oyster style bracelet that paid homage to the original. There was a gap or space between the case and bracelet showing a final link.
Tudor answered the public demand by making a correction by having the bracelet fit flush into the case like the regular Black Bay models as seen in the second picture above. This is perfect timing as the watch is highly anticipated and about to hit Tudor retailers and boutique shelves by the end of this month. I guess it did look out of sorts to see that gap on the first bracelet because it’s an all black watch. It had an unfinished look. The correction to this is welcomed and now makes the watch look finished. You can check out all the specs on the NEW Tudor Black Bay Dark, here
