I have said in many times and I will say it again, The Rolex GMT-Master is the best tool watch ever made! It serves a specific useful dual time zone function and continues to be in production. The vintage versions have especially become cult icons and must haves for collectors all over the world!
I thought I had seen most of the vintage models that were produced until I saw this watch pictured above. This is known as the Rolex GMT-Master “Blueberry” ref#1675. This is the first time I have ever seen an all blue bezel GMT-Master made by Rolex. It was produced between 1977-1978. It’s seen on models with serial numbers between 5.4-5.8 million. It’s extremely rare and sought after. There is a strong possibility that this watch was made for the Middle East market.
This watch will be auctioned off by Antiquorum Auctioneers in Hong Kong at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel.on Saturday July 9, 2016. Auction estimates are between $10,045-$15,450. I am sure it will command a lot more at auction, like over 20K! Please stay tuned….
Please note- As I predicted when I published this article on 7/7/16 this watch sold for 175,000 HK$ or roughly $22,000 on 7/9/16
