For the last 4 years, A Lange & Sohne produces a one of a kind Lange 1 Time Zone Como Edition timepiece for the “Best of Show” winner at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este.
This year A Lange & Sohne released the Lange 1 Time Zone Como Edition in 18k white gold. The case, in 18kt white gold, measures 41.9mm x 11mm. It has a sapphire crystal and an engraved cuvette caseback.The movement is the German manual-wind Lange in-house caliber L031.1 with 54 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 72 hours. It features four screwed gold chatons, a lever escapement, a shock-resistant screw balance, whiplash precision index adjuster with patented beat adjustment mechanism.
It is decorated and assembled by hand; precision-adjusted to five positions; twin mainspring barrel; plates and bridges made of untreated German silver; balance cock and intermediate-wheel cock engraved by hand. The Functions include: home time with day/night indicator (hours, minutes, small seconds with stop seconds), zone time (hours, minutes) with day/night indicator and city ring, outsize date for home time, power-reserve indicator.
The dial is solid silver, argenté; rhodiumed gold appliques, luminous. The hands are rhodiumed gold, luminous; blued-steel seconds hand. It comes on a black hand-stitched alligator leather strap with an 18kt white gold buckle.
When you compare this watch to the classic version, the “Como Edition” has two special features: Central European Time on the rotating city ring is represented not by Berlin as usual, but by Como as a tribute to the event location. Additionally, the watch is endowed with a cuvette. In other words, the Lange 1 Time Zone has a hand-engraved, hinged dust cover in white gold on the movement side.
