Hey watch fans!
Baselworld 2016 is just around the corner. A month from today the biggest watch and jewelry show begins!
The question on everyone’s mind is What will Rolex release this year? Like clockwork, I am posting what online Magazine, Monochrome has predicted that Rolex will produce at Baselworld 2016. You can read Monochrome’s predictions for Baselworld 2015 here . Even though none of the watches he predicted last year came to surface, it’s always fun and interesting to read about.
For this years Baselworld 2016 Monochrome has predicted Rolex will produce the following watches below. Please note, NONE of these pictures below are official Rolex images.
The NEW Rolex DateJust 40 with new Calibre 3236
Last year Rolex released the Day/Date 40 in a NEW 40mm size with a NEW movement. This year Monochrome has predicted Rolex will release a NEW Datejust in 40mm in stainless steel 40mm in steel with a polished bezel, stainless steel with an 18k white gold bezel and steel and 18kyg with a fluted bezel. Who knows? In my option anything is possible. As much as it would be nice it might be too close to the Day/Date 40. It’s almost like when Rolex released the Yachtmaster II in steel. I am sure it hurt the sales of the Yachtmaster II in white gold.
The New Rolex Daytona White Gold on leather strap with black ceramic bezel – ref. 116519LN
The success of the Rolex Daytona in everose with black ceramic bezel on a black alligator strap has been incredible. Last year Monochrome predicted the Daytona in steel would be release with a Panda dial and black ceramic bezel. This year Monochrome has predicted that the Daytona would be released in white gold with a black alligator strap and black arabic dial with white gold numerals and three registered chronograph counters with red hands. This seems like something Rolex would do . It gives the look of a steel Daytona but on a strap and the ceramic bezel makes it more modern and utilitarian but yet it’s not in a steel Daytona price point.
The new Rolex GMT-Master II Two Tone, Root Beer dial and brown ceramic bezel
Last year Monochrome predicted that Rolex would release a GMT Master II in steel & gold with root beer dial and brown ceramic bezel. This watch never came to fruition. Still optimistic, Monochrome once again believes that this watch could be released this year at Baselworld 2016 even though it’s probable the least likely out of all the watches predicted. Collectors around the world would go crazy for it!
Rolex Oyster Perpetual 39 ref. 114300 Olive Green
Last year Rolex released the Oyster Perpetual 39mm in stainless steel with three unique dials of grey, red grape and blue. This year for Baselworld 2016 Monochrome predicts that Rolex will produce a forth color in olive green. Personally, I love the size and price point but I feel that the grey dial is the only nice color in the bunch and the rest are not so appealing on the eyes.
New Rolex Yacht-Master 40 ceramic in steel and yellow gold (and Oysterflex)
Last year Rolex revitalized the popular Yachtmaster by introducing it in Everose with black ceramic bezel on an Oysterflex bracelet. in two sizes. This year Monochrome predicts that it could be released in stainless steel and in yellow gold. As nice as it would be to see this in steel I am not sure if they would do that. They might just release it in white gold to tease us. They would definitely sell more pieces if it was released in steel they might want to round out the collection in the two other precious metals to make it more exclusive.
Out of all Monochrome’s predictions I can see the Datejust 40mm, 18kwg Daytona with ceramic bezel on an alligator strap, and Yachtmaster 40 being produced at Baselworld 2016. Stay tuned to find out what actually comes out!
