NEW Martenero Edgemere collection LFTR- Edgemere White / Blue, Edgemere Blue, Edgemere White / Red and Edgemere Silver retail-$550
Martenero watches out of NYC are my favorite watch brand priced under $600. I have been following them since their debut back in February 2014! They have just released their fifth collection known as the Edgemere. For those of you who are unaware of Martenero watches, it’s about time to pay attention! Read more about Martenero, HERE. You don’t have to deliberate anymore about what you should buy in the $500-$600 price point. They are not your run of the mill, pedestrian, obvious choice that’s poorly made. Martenero boasts innovative design and solid quality construction from top to bottom. Everything is very well thought out and executed by Martenro founder and CEO, John Tarantino.
Typically Martenero are known for their customization options that make it the ultimate watch to own in it’s price point . This time around, Martenero have NOT made the NEW Edgemere customizable. There are 4 very distinct models that have their own personality and charm. They are also really affordable. $550 is NOT going to break the bank!
For starters, the NEW Edgemere has a round 40mm case made out of stainless steel. There are four dial options including; Edgemere White / Blue, Edgemere Blue, Edgemere White / Red and Edgemere Silver. The raised hour ring and textured interior adds depth to the dial, while the seconds hand is contained within a sub-dial between the four and five o’clock position. Martenero decided to consistently have all three hands having a long, thin stem and a diamond tip. I love that the minute hand on each model has a different colored tip from the hour hand which makes it easy to decipher between hours and minutes. There is nothing more annoying than getting confused with something that should be basic.
The movement is the Miyota 8245 which registers at 21,600 beats per hour. The 8245 is an automatic movement, It has a power reserve of 40 hours.
The straps are made out of Genuine leather, made in the US. It has hypoallergenic leather lining and matching edge paint on the sides for a refined look. The stitching details on the strap remind us that it is made by hand.
I wish there were more options than the four models that were released. I am sure it will eventually evolve and hopefully customization will be available. I like that it’s unique from the other 4 Martenero collections. Personally, I like the Edgemere White/Red the best. It has striking contrast and a great pops of color while still being sophisticated.
