There is no doubt that Shinola has actively done an amazing job to bring up the city of Detroit with their watches, bikes and leather goods. They have given jobs to many and created a real buzz within the watch world and the pop culture land scape. Shinola boutique’s are popping up on street corners of some of the most famous cities around the country.
Recently Shinola made the announcement that they will launch a NEW hotel concept in Fall of 2018! This will highlight Detroit-inspired design from Gachot Studios and an innovative food and
beverage program from New York-based Noho Hospitality Group. The Shinola Hotel
will combine the best of two Detroit-based companies – Shinola’s high-quality
American built craftsmanship and Bedrock’s development and urban revitalization
expertise – to provide a unique experience worthy of the city itself.
The location of this hotel will be at 1400 Woodward Avenue which dates back to 1915. Bedrock Detroit which is the development and real estate company of Dan Gilbert, who is the founder of Quicken loans and majority owner of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bedrock Detroit and Bedrock Manufacturing have teamed up on this NEW hotel. Bedrock Manufacturing is the parent company of Shinola and has nothing to do with Dan Gilbert.
They have teamed up with the hippest and coolest firms locally and nationally to revitalize and inject NEW energy into a neighborhood that was once the place to go. The design team includes four firms, the two most notable being Detroit’s Kraemer Design Groupand New York City-based Gachot Studios. The food and beverage program is being handled by Noho Hospitality Group, who is New York firm responsible for restaurants such as The Dutch, Locanda Verde, and Lafayette.
This is a great concept that will help create jobs, tourism, and gentrification to an iconic city that will shine again!
