The Omega Speedmaster is one of my favorite chronograph watches made. This Baselworld 2016 Omega will release the Speedster Moonphase Chronograph Master Chronometer.
The most impressive part about this watch is how realistic the moon phase display is. The contrast it provides against the beautiful brushed blue sun ray pattern dial with polished rhodium indices is just stunning.
The case is 44.25mm and constructed out of stainless steel with a blue ceramic bezel. The subdials are piped with rhodium plated circles which enhances its legibility and provides great symmetry. I really wish it didn’t say co-axial master chronometer on the dial. Extra writing on the dial just makes it busy. The info could have been provided on the back.
The movement is the 9904 caliber and is comprised of 368 parts. This is one of the most accurate movements out there and needs to be regulated every 10 years which is a break through in watch making. The watch is fitted on a blue alligator strap with contrasting stitching to complete the equation.
Overall, I am very impressed with the dial, layout, functionality and timeless styling. As much as I am not a big Omega fan. The Speedster is a true legend of time that I will always respect!
