Montblanc showed us a preview of some great pieces before SIHH 2016 started. They have continued to wow us with many more exceptional pieces at SIHH 2016. Once piece in particular that has caught the attention of the watch world is the debut of the NEW TwinFly Chronograph 110 Years.
This watch has a bold but impressive 43mm stainless steel case. The dial is silver guilloche with red gold plated applied Roman numerals.
A small world map subdial at 12 o’clock shows the hometime, linked with the blued central hour hand. Also in central position are the red gold-plated hour and minute hands for the local time as well as the chronograph minute and second baton hands. A subdial at 6 o’clock shows the small seconds and carries a large date window. The TwinFly chronograph of the new Manufacture Calibre MB LL100.1 is driven by a column wheel. Its start and stop functions are controlled by a vertical disc clutch via a pusher at 2 o’clock; a pusher at 4 o’clock resets it. The lower pusher also activates the eponymous fly-back function, which stops, resets and instantly restarts the elapsed minutes and seconds at a single touch. This watch is limited to 1,000 pieces for the world.
Most watches out there that boast this sort of functionality are either too sporty or incredibly dressy and look all the same. The NEW Montblanc TwinFly Chronograph 110 Years totes the line in sophisticated yet everyday sort of way that’s completely original.
