On Monday, August 24, 2015, two armed robbers jacked the Century City Rolex/ Geary’s Boutique at Westfield shopping mall in LA.
According to witnesses, The two suspects were wearing ski masks as they robbed the boutique and fired shots with assault rifles. Luckily no one was hurt.
The gunman told everyone to lie down, rifled through the jewelry cases, took an unknown amount of Rolex merchandise and fled, meeting up with a third man in a car, according to Lt. John Jenal.
The car was abandoned close to the mall, on Century Park West, where the three men were believed to have hopped a wall and fled into a residential neighborhood. An older model sedan, the car had been reported stolen in South Los Angeles, Jenal said.
This is the scary part of the watch and jewelry business. You always need to be on your toes, vigilant and aware. I am happy to hear that no one was hurt. Rolex is still and will always be considered like currency, it has an instrinsic value that is global. This is why they hold their value better than any other watch brand out there. I am sorry for Rolex and Geary’s that this happened and I am sure more security and precautions will be in effect immediately!
