Cartier has had a lot of success with their entry level pricepoint Ronde Solo collection. I think it’s one of the best valued watches for under 5k!
Cartier have outdone themselves again with the introduction of a new collection known as the Ronde Croisiere collection. Two models have been released in stainless steel and one model in steel and gold.
What makes this different from the traditional Cartier Ronde collection? Well first of all they are only available in a 42mm case and Second, they all have in house calibre Cartier self-winding movements. The best part is that they will retail under 6K. It bridges the gap between an traditional elegant dress watch and an oversized masculine sports watch.
All three NEW models are traditional uncomplicated three handed watches with date function. The case is available in stainless steel or steel with an 18kt pink gold plated bezel with ADLC coating, measures 42mm x 9.7mm. It has a sapphire crystal and it is water resistant to 100 meters. The steel or 18kt rose gold crown features a black cabochon. The dials are available in silver or grey, with applied Roman numerals and steel, steel black or rose gold sword-shaped hands.
The movement is the Swiss automatic Cartier in-house caliber 1847MC with 23 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 48 hours. The incorporation of a particularly rapid barrel provides it with tremendous chronometric stability. The dual-direction winding automatic mechanism provides great durability via a specially designed lever system. Finally the watch is fitted on a black calfskin strap with a double adjustable folding steel buckle.
I think this will be a home run for Cartier! These new models are elegantly designed, have an in house movement and are really well priced. The stainless steel with grey or silver dial retails for $4,650 while the steel with pink gold accents will retail for $5,300.
