The Green Product Award celebrates products that unite high-quality design with technical innovation and sustainable production processes. Over 400 entries from over 21 countries (from an eco-toothbrush to sound-proofing made from bioplastic) competed in 2015; an expert panel from the fields of science and industry, including Daimler and the Institut für ökologische Wirtschaftsförderung (Institute for Ecological Economic Development), then curated a “Green Selection” of the top 100 submissions for the final public vote.
Recently, Nomos Glashutte was the recipient of the 2015 Green Product Award for the Metro for high-quality design, technical innovation, and sustainability .
The timepiece, designed by Mark Braun, won over the jury with its climate-friendly production, innovative technical features, and, as one judge put it, “example-setting durability.”
Produced regionally, with high-quality working conditions: NOMOS Glashütte has also been a certified ‘Ecoprofit business’ since 2013, and produces up to 95 percent of every caliber on-site. “We always try to work in a way that ensures fine watches for today, and a better future for tomorrow,” says Judith Borowski, Head of Branding and Design at NOMOS Glashütte. She adds, “We are simply overjoyed with this award!”
