As the French Open is officially under way this week, Rafael Nadel has already won the first round and looks to capture his tenth major title. Richard Mille has partnered with Rafael Nadel since 2011. The first watch released in 2011 was the iconic RM35 which has become a distinct piece within the Richard Mille collection.
This week at the French Open, Richard Mille supports their ambassador with a Tourbillon made of NTPT carbon with a red clay colored strap which Rafael Nadal will be sporting on and off the court. If you look in the pic above, you see Rafa wearing this watch known at the RM 27-02 Tourbillon in his press conference after his first round victory against Quentin Halys of France.
The case is constructed out of titanium and NTPT carbon which is comprised of multiple layers of silica and TPT Quartz which makes for a more structurally sound case. In addition, with this watch RIchard Mille introduces the very first skeletonized baseplate known as the “unibody,” in which the case band and baseplate are fused into a single piece. This new and improved structure was inspired by the chassis of racing cars and enhances impact resistance. This piece will be limited to 50 pieces and is available upon request by contacting Richard Mille directly.
To further support this great tennis champion and partner, RIchard Mille has released a second watch in a limited edition of 50 pieces for the Americas. This is the NEW updated RM35 Rafael Nadal. The NEW RM35 Rafael Nadal has new case materials, colorful accents, and a sapphire caseback, the RM 035 Americas limited edition is as strong as its predecessor with an even more vibrancy.
The front and back bezels of the tripartite case of the RM 035 Americas are made from black TZP ceramic that has been blasted for a matte effect. The caseband is crafted from NTPT carbon, which is composed of multiple layers of woven carbon fibers. A sapphire caseback allows for ideal viewing of the skeletonized RMUL1 caliber. Though it weighs just 4.3 grams, the watch’s movement has successfully passed a series of accelerated ageing tests conducted by Switzerland’s Laboratoire Dubois, resulting in its Chronofiable certification.
Red and yellow Superluminova accents on the indices and hands complement the bright yellow crown protector and add legibility. The watch is presented on a black rubber strap.
