Chronograph watches have never really been my thing because let’s face it, what the hell am I going to use a chronograph for other than for maybe timing boiling pasta. Haha, yeah right! Anyway, that being said, Zenith released the NEW El Primero Chrongraph at this Baselworld 2015 and it’s just fantastic.
This watch is a good size at 42 mm and can be had in stainless steel for $8,400 or 18k rose gold for $21,300. The only thing that’s a little weird to me is why is there almost a 13k difference between stainless steel and the 18k rose gold version? I know gold is more expensive, but It’s seems unreasonable to pay such a high premium for 18k rose gold.
The problem with chronograph watches generally is that they are decorative like throw pillows and are never really used. Also, they can be very cluttered and hard to read. What I like most is how clean and classic this watch is. I love the silver dial with double indices and chronograph subdials at the three and nine o’clock position is subtly integrated into the dial not in your face. There is no date which makes me even happier and it also has a vintage style to it. I think for the money especially in stainless steel, I don’t think you could get a better value for a dress chronograph with an in house movement.
