Hermes unlike most of the fashion brands out there is actually very respected in the watch world because they use high quality movements in their watches made by vaucher. Their designs are original and they have always stood apart from the rest!
For this 2015 Baselworld, Hermes released the NEW slim d’hermes perpetual calendar in 18k rose gold.
The 18k rose gold case is 39.5 mm and has a sapphire crystal front and back. The dial is is opaline silvered, with black transferred Arabic numerals. Rose gold-gilded or lacquered-blue sandblasted Baton hands. Mother-of-pearl moon over an Aventurine sky. I like the originality of the whimsical Hermes numbers and layout of it’s symmetry. I am not a fan of having the dial be recessed to show depth. The contrast between the silvered dial and 18k rose gold case and black transferred numbers is fantastic and gives it a soft yet elegant aesthetic.
The movement is the Swiss automatic ultra-thin (2.6mm) Hermès by Vaucher caliber p950 with 32 jewels, 21,600 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours. It features a micro-rotor and hand-chamfered bridges. It has a perpetual calendar module by Agenhor. Functions are: hours, minutes, perpetual calendar, moon phases, GMT, and day/night indicator. I almost feel that the movement is prettier than the watch, its really well done!
Finally the watch is tied together by the very sophisticated matte havana brown or black alligator leather strap with an 18kt rose gold buckle.
