You may remember last month I wrote how Sotheby’s Auction House would be auctioning off one of the largest collections in the world this month which you can read about here.
The results are in and it is absolutely mind blowing! The collection which included over 5,800 elements, featuring exclusive prototypes, limited and special edition Swatch watches from 1983 to 2007, along with collected artwork relating to Swatch designs. The collection belonged to a European collector, Paul Dunkel, who credits Swatch as the motivation for building his collection over the past 25 years.
This massive collection of Swatch watches and Swatch Art was offered as a superlot valued at $1.3 million. This collection fetched a staggering $6 million at auction.
The winning bidder was European institution who won after placing over 30 bids with two other bidders at the auction.
