IWC Ingenieur Automatic Edition “Laureus Sport For Good Foundation”
Since 2005, IWC has partnered up with Laureus Sport for good foundation. IWC supports the Laureus programmes on a global level with the annual launch of a new limited-edition watch. The dial of each watch is presented in a special “Laureus” blue and the case is engraved with a drawing that is selected from entries to a competition in which young people from local Laureus projects take part. As with all previous editions, part of the proceeds from the sales of the watch is donated to Laureus. Moreover, IWC has published a lavishly illustrated book titled “Let the Children Play”, in which well-known authors and photographers have documented ten projects supported by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation.
This year IWC has released it’s ninth watch with Laureus Sport for good foundation which the Ingenieur Automatic Edition. Past watches include:
- 2006 Portugieser Chrono-Automatic
- 2007 Pilot’s Watch Chrono-Automatic
- 2008 Da Vinci Chronograph
- 2009/10 Portugieser Automatic
- 2011 Ingenieur Automatic Vintage Collection
- 2012 Portofino Chronograph
- 2013 Portugieser Yacht Club Chronograph
- 2014 Portugieser Chronograph Classic
The NEW Ingenieur Automatic Edition’s motif for this year’s engraving is based on the winning entry submitted for the 2014 drawing competition organized by IWC within all the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects worldwide. The subject, “Time to celebrate”, encouraged many children and young people from all over the world to submit entries.
The IWC Ingenieur has always been a favorite of mine.. This watch is a a three handed watch with time and date function. It has the specialty blue dial, 40 mm stainless steel case and bracelet. The movement is the in-house calibre 30110 self-winding automatic movement with 42 hour power reserve. Like all IWC Ingenieur watches, this watch has the soft iron inner case against magnetic fields. This watch is limited to 1,000 pieces for the world and is great example of IWC’s commitment to supoorting the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation on a global level.
