You may remember before the relaunch of Tudor watches in the US in September of 2013, I wrote a review on The Tudor Pelagos Diver which you can read about here. This Baselworld 2015, not even 2 years later, Tudor has introduced the Pelagos in a new color of blue with blue ceramic bezel and blue dial with an in house movement for only $275 more than the previous model! This is absolutely remarkable because it’s quite expensive to develop and manufacture your own movement. The movement is the same MT5621 in house manufactured movement used in the NEW Tudor North Flag also released at Baselworld 2015 which you can read about here . This is also available in the classic black dial with black ceramic bezel for the incredible price of $4400. The first generation Peleagos with ETA movement retailed for $4,125, so when you consider in the new version you are getting the new in-house movement and it’s also COSC certified for $4400, it’s a bargain!
The previous version with ETA movement and black dial will still be available till it completely sells through authorized Tudor retailers.
All of the other details on the new verssion are the same as the previous version from the 42 mm titanium case, titanium bracelet and comes with a nice rubber strap and titanium clasp that has an incredible adjustment system. The only thing I don’t like on this new version is all the extra text written on the bottom of the dial, but hey that’s just me. I am really happy to see the progress Tudor has made in less than two years and wish them continued success for a very bright future!
