You may remember, this past October I wrote how I thought the Panerai PAM00372 was possibly going to be discontinued which you can read about here in case you missed it. Panerai decided they were going to stop production on the PAM00372 with the current Q serial number which led me to believe there was a possibility that the watch was going to be phased out of the Panerai collection all together and the retail price was dropped from 10,400 to $10,000.
I just confirmed with Panerai that not only is the PAM00372 NOT being discontinued but it had another price reduction from $10,000 to now $9,700. That’s right since its release since 2012, The Panerai PAM00372 has had 2 price decreases. As an owner of the PAM00372 this doesn’t exactly make me happy, but I have no control over it so whatever!
After the new fiscal year starts for Panerai, April 1, 2015, The PAM00372 will be introduced with the newest serial number R and the strap will now be a tapered strap instead of one size. By doing this it could potentially make the previous serial numbers more desirable, especially the first serial number N, but who knows?
At the end of the day, we are not buying these watches to sell them. We are wearing them to own them and enjoy them. I understand the supply and demand games watch companies play to make their watches more or in some cases less desirable, but in the case of the PAM00372 in my opinion, the game went a little too far!
