Ringo Starr is by far the most famous living drummer of all time! Ringo Starr amongst the other Beatle’s is a huge fan of Patek Philippe watches. On December 3, 2015, Ringo Starr’s Patek Philppe rare perpetual calendar ref#3448 in yellow gold will be auctioned off by Julien’s Live. This watch was originally introduced in 1962 and only 586 were produced over 20 years out of which 25 were produced in white gold and 2 were produced in Platinum and another 2 in 18k pink gold. In 2011 an 18k pink gold version of the Patek Philippe ref#3448 was auctioned off by Christie’s Auction House for 2 million dollars!
As the majority of the Patek Philippe ref#3448’s were made in 18k yellow gold, the auction estimates range from $80,000-$100,000. This was the first automatic perpetual calendar that Patek Philippe released and it was discontinued in 1982.
This watch has a 37mm yellow gold case, a silver dial with moon phase, date and perpetual calendar functions.
Note:This watch was sold at approximately 12:15 pm PST by Julien’s Live on 12/3/15 for $140,000. This comes with a letter from Patek Philippe verifying that this watch was produced in 1971.
