Today was a great day! I had an awesome conversation with Autodromo founder, Bradley Price. For those of you who don’t know, Autodromo is an amazing entry level price point watch brand out of Brooklyn NY. The style of Autodromo watches are inspired by automotive racing instruments from the 60’s, 70’s & 80’s.
Bradley Price had a vision born out of his love for older Italian race cars and his appreciation for vintage watches. His newest collection which will officially be released in a month is known as Group B. This watches’ inspiration was taken from the lines of the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak combined with the machined design of the eighties DeLorean automobile featured in the classic cult movie, Back to the Future!
I absolutely adore this watch for it’s originality but at the same time when you look at it, you think to yourself, ” I know I have seen this before.” But you haven’t! This is the lightest watch in the Autodromo collection at only 52 grams. The case is 39mm in size which features a bimetallic case of titanium and stainless steel.
The Miyota 9015 automatic 24 jewel hacking mechanical movement is the engine that powers this instrument for the wrist. The dial options available are white, red, blue and yellow.
I love how eighties this watch feels. It reminds me of the early IWC Ingenieurs or AP Royal Oaks but yet it’s completely true to itself. It evokes an emotion and spirit that very few watches old or new, expensive or inexpensive have the ability to do!
Being a designer, Bradley has immense knowledge and experience to convey his passion and refined aesthetic to the end consumer. He loves quality and design. This is what was impressed upon me the most in our conversation. I really appreciate this. When you see watches in this price range for the most part, you see lack of creativity, originality, passion and quality. It’s all the same recycled and boring BS! Being independent and in control of his company allows Bradley to be free and run this boutique brand with attention to detail, quality and care at a very affordable price point. The group B retails for $925.
Aside from making 4 fantastic watch collections to date, Bradley pulls us into his world further by offering a lifestyle brand with original designed sunglasses and racing gloves to boot. The common theme amongst all of these offerings is innovative design that feels familiar, incredible quality and one hell of a story!
Even though it’s a minimalist, modern design and construction, I am sure the Group B watch will become an instant classic piece to own for the future!
Recently, Autodromo added the silver dial Group B pictured above. This NEW silver dial is a nice addition to the Group B family and offers great contrast, visibility and modernity like the rest of the models in the Group B collection. The specs of the watch are exactly the same as the others above. I would think based on the favorable reviews of the NEW siilver dial group B, we will see more silver dial variations. This watch comes fitted on either a yellow nylon strap with an additional grey nylon strap in the box or vice versa for $925 like the other models. If you want that genrational eighties car racing inspired feel in a watch, this is the way to go! You can check out the NEW silver dial Autodromo Group B and the rest of the collection, HERE.
It looks like the black dial version of the Group B with white indices has been discontinued beacause it’s no longer pictured on the official Autodromo website.
