I have always pined after a Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso. When they unveiled the Tribute to 1931 in 2011 I fell in love. At this SIHH 2015, JLC released the Grande Reverso 1931 Seconde Centrale and I was absolutely blown away.
This watch was inspired by a piece that was made in 1935. Even though it’s a three handed watch and I am not the biggest enthusiast of watches with second hands, this watch rocks in every single way!
I really wish this watch was made in stainless steel in a perfect world but it’s constructed out of 18k white gold. This watch is limited to Jaeger-LeCoultre Boutiques world wide but is not numbered. My guess is that only a few hundred of these watches will be produced at best.
Now lets get to the watch. First of all it screams art deco, refined, vintage and everyday all at the same time. I love that it’s in the Grande Reverso case which makes it more substantial and suitable for any situation. The dial is black with eleven hour markers and an Arabic Numeral of 12. The central seconds track in the middle of the dial is a nice touch and brings the whole dial together. The movement is the self-winding automatic in house 966A calibre and has a 38 hour power reserve when taken off the wrist. Functions include: hours, minutes and central seconds and the watch is fitted on a black alligator strap with white gold pin buckle.
When I look at it the first thing I think of is something from another time period when the world was more civilized, simple and uncomplicated by technology.
If you want a piece of JLC history reborn, I highly suggest you purchase this piece because at $18,800. it’s a great value that will stand the test of time.
