There is no surprise that Nomos Glashutte has become one of my favorite watch brands for the money. They are a high quality clean and minimalist German designed watch at a very competitive price point. In November, I wrote about the Nomos Glashutte Welzeit for Wempe NYC, which you can read about here.
Starting this October 2014, The NEW Nomos Glashutte True Blue Zurich Weltzeit will be available in stores.
Some of you may know, I am not a fan of watches with blue dials, but this new watch is done in great taste because its a matte blue and not loud or obnoxious.
This watch has a stainless steel 39.9 mm case, an AR-coated sapphire crystal, a sapphire display back, and it is water resistant to 30 meters. The movement is the German automatic NOMOS caliber DUW5201 with 26 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 42 hours. It features a Glashütte three-quarter plate and the NOMOS swing system with tempered blue balance spring. It is adjusted to six positions and has tempered blue screws, and movement surfaces with Glashütte ribbing and Nomos perlage, ratchet and duplex wheel with Glashütte sunburst decoration.
The dial is is galvanized, blue, with world time and 24-hour indicator. The hands are rhodium-plated and faceted, seconds hand rhodium-plated. The red home icon arrow shows the time back home in a click via the home push button. I love this contrast because it gives the watch life and captivates your interest with this subtle detail. Finally the watch is fitted on a crisp black Horween genuine shell Cordovan leather strap with steel buckle.
This watch should retail around the same as the regular white silver plated dial for $6,100 but nothing is confirmed until it hits stores.
