If you remember, back in January of this year, I broke the story that the Panerai PAM00590 is an official Panerai release which you can read about here.
Well, the Panerai PAM00590 is now officially in Panerai Boutiques and authorized retailers in North America
I recently had a chance to play with and photograph one. Personally, I wasn’t really expecting much because 44mm watches are too small for me, but I have to say, I was impressed with what I saw.
The newly re-designed 44mm stainless steel Luminor case has a slimmer profile than the older one and the shoulders have been rounded so the watch really hugs the wrist for comfort and style.
The movement is the in-house P.5000 8 Day hand wound movement. The case back is a screw down, brushed, stainless steel case back which just feels more solid to me than a sapphire crystal case back.
The dial is a black sandwich dial with brand NEW beige super luminova which lasts longer than the older super luminova making it glow brighter throughout the night. This includes the Arabic numeral 12 and 6 and indices in between for the hour markers with a sub-seconds hand at the 9 o’clock position and the Italian 8 Giorni Brevettato designation, signifying 8 Days in Italian, which is quite iconic and historic for Panerai.
Finally, to make this watch complete, it’s fitted with the masculine and rugged, brown calf Assolutamente strap with ecru stitching.
What makes this watch incredibly desirable is that they are only available at Panerai Boutiques and authorized dealers in North America for the first year and just 1,000 pieces are being produced. The retail price is currently $7,700, making this one of the best values in the watch industry for something limited, numbered and completely manufactured from start to finish.
