IWC are all about giving back. This will be the eighth time that IWC is supporting the amazing work carried out across the globe by the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation with a limited-edition timepiece in characteristic Laureus blue.
Those of you who are unaware, The Laureus Sport for Good Foundation‘s goal is to help young people overcome the limitations imposed by challenging social issues including poverty, homelessness, war, violence, drug abuse, discrimination and AIDS. To do this Laureus supports and assists a worldwide programme of sports related community projects that have been working to educate children, protect the vulnerable from illness and even bring people from divided communities together in friendship for over ten years.
This years watch is the NEW Portuguese Chronograph Classic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation”
The IWC Portuguese Chronograph Classic Edition was introduced last year at SIHH in Geneva Switzerland. This watch was the first time that IWC introduced a Portuguese Chronograph with a NEW in hose movement, new dial and 42 mm case.
What makes this NEW IWC stainless steel Portuguese Chronograph Classic Edition “Laureus Sport for Good Foundation” so special is that it’s limited to 1000 pieces for the world, the dial is Lareus Blue which is the color of hope and the case back has specialty engraving.
IWC Schaffhausen organizes an annual children’s drawing competition within all the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects worldwide. This year, the jury’s verdict went to a drawing by 16-year-old Masha Nikulina from the Russian Federation. Her artistically ambitious picture shows happy children skiing and playing around in the snow. The illustration is a compelling interpretation of the theme of this year’s drawing competition, “Time to play”, and emanates a sense of harmony. The engraving is a reminder that a portion of the proceeds from sales goes to help Laureus Sport for Good Foundation projects in some of the world’s most problematic regions. This is the only collection where you get an individually numbered piece.
Also when you open your special edition box this watch is presented in, inside is a picture of the child who originally drew the image along with a picture of the original drawing done by the child as well.
IWC’s commitment to the Laureus Sport for Good Foundation is a beautiful partnership and its a great thing for humanity which brings people together to support and amazing cause.
