There is no secret that President Bill Clinton is a huge fan of watches. I was lucky enough to work with the former President in 2004. He has really good taste in watches and really loves several different watch brands.
Recently, President Clinton has been seen proudly wearing a Shinola Watch on his wrist. Shinola Watches are made in Detroit Michigan and have been making watches for two years now. They are Swiss movements assembled in the US by American Workers in Detroit.
President Clinton was in Detroit yesterday, April 26, 2014, where he spoke to a crowd of nearly 2,000 at Cobo Center at the annual Jefferson-Jackson Day Dinner, the largest annual fund-raiser for the Michigan Democratic Party. Guests paid $175 apiece to attend. He urged Michigan Democrats to embrace the affordable care act and campaign on it this fall.
Earlier that day, President Clinton was touring the Shinola Headquarters and Watch factory located in Detroit’s New Center area. He toured the factory in its entirety and at the end of the tour he stopped to take a group photo with the Shinola Factory workers, Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and US Senator Debbie Stabenow. Not only did he take photos, but met, hugged and shook hands with some of the factory workers as well.
The President was wearing one of the brands signature Runwell models and said that the big face and big numbers were just part of the attraction. He also went on to say, “I liked it because I thought it was elegant but informal. I really like it, but I also have one with the tan band that’s a little more informal but more of a sport watch. I have two of them. I wear them all the time”
This is a huge victory for such a young watch company like Shinola, because having arguably the greatest President of all time like President Clinton wearing Shinola Watches, endorses and confirms its credibility without question!
