I am not a fan of small watches at all. I can appreciate them on a broader scale, but they have no place on my wrist or my ankle.
I am thoroughly impressed with the NEW Nomos Glashutte Metro Datum Gangreserve that was just released for Basel 2014.
Even though this watch is only 37 mm in diameter, it has stylish elegance which is timeless yet modish at the same time.
What makes this watch so special is that it uses a swing system or as the Swiss call it an assortiment. This is is the pace-setting part of the movement. which defines the accuracy, and the durability of a watch.
This movement is not readily produced in-house meaning: milled, turned and screwed and Nomos Glashutte happens to be one of the few who produce this movement entirely in-house in Glashutte Germany.
The functions of the watch include: hours, minutes, sub-seconds, power reserve and date. The case is a 37 mm in stainless steel, while the dial is galvanized, white silver-plated, with hour indices and power reserve wheel done in mint green, indicator red/white. The hands are steel, oxidized black, and the seconds hand is lacquered red. The watch has a double sapphire crystals and is water resistant to 30 meters. It’s fitted on a Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan black leather strap with steel buckle and quick-change spring bars.
