The most frequently asked question during this time of year in the watch industry is “I wonder what Rolex will introduce this year at Baselworld?” Let me tell you, this year is no different. According to Frank Geelan, who publishes the highly popular online magazine Monochrome Magazine, and recently shared his predictions with Watch Time Magazine online, entitled “5 Watches We Hope to See From Rolex at Baselworld 2014”, we are in for a real treat this Baseworld 2014.

In my opinion, even if we only one of these being made, it will be a great Baselworld for Rolex. Below are his watch predictions. These are NOT official pictures from Rolex
1. Stainless Steel Daytona white dial with black subdials (aka panda dial) and black ceramic bezel. You better believe if Rolex makes this watch their will be a blood bath to get it. This will probably be the most anticipated Rolex for this century.

2. Rolex GMT-Master II ref. 116710 BLRO (Blue/Red)
I think out of all the predictions, this will be the one if any to come out this year at Baselworld 2014, but of course I could definitely be wrong. The stainless steel Rolex GMT Master II is a cult icon. Last year, Rolex introduced the Day/Night Blue/Black ceramic version which was the first time Rolex executed bi-color in a ceramic bezel. So we may very well see Rolex introduce the Pepsi bezel as it’s affectionately been referred to by collectors or the blue/red ceramic bezel GMT-Master II. Should Rolex make this watch. I have to have it for sure!

3. Rolex Sea-Dweller II Ref. 116600
I guess some collectors were disappointed when the Rolex Sea Dweller was discounted and replaced with the Rolex Deep Sea. Monochrome wants us to Imagine this year at Basel a cross between the Deep Sea and Submariner by having a 40 mm Submariner stainless steel case with helium escape valve, no cyclopse over the date and to get rid of the engraved inner ring.
Personally, I like the Deep Sea. It’s the ultimate dive watch!

4. Rolex Milgauss ref. 116400
The Rolex Milgauss is currently available in three variations of Black dial, White dial and Green Crystal. There have been rumors that the black dial will be discountinued, Monochrome suggests possibly a blue dial.
Personally, I feel the green crystal and white are perfect and there is no need to add a third variation if the black dial does get discontinued. I am not a fan of blue dial watches. You never know though because if the blue dial is made, the orange lightening bolt hand could be incredible contrast.

5. Rolex Sky-Dweller in stainless steel
Two years ago Rolex introduced to us their most complicated watch in the their Arsenal, The Sky-Dweller. Since this watch is only available in 18k yellow gold on braclelet, 18k rose gold on a crocodile strap and 18k white gold on a bracelet. Monochrome suggest a stainless steel version on a bracelet with anthracite grey dial would be nice.

The only way to know if any of these will become realities is on Thursday March 27 when Baselworld officially starts and Rolex unveils their 2014 collection. I am really excited an look forward to what’s around the corner.
