Kingsley 1945 “Black Member” Kingsley 1945 “Gold Member” Kingsley 1945 “Steel Member ”
Mistakes aren’t always a bad thing. In the watch business some mistakes can be more valuable in the long run.
Recently, Ramon Kingsley of Kingsley 1945 watches and I were having a conversation about a mistake he made to one of the dials on the watches he was working on. We talked about it and realized that this mistake was actually a serendipitous event in time. The dial had been stripped down to the core, making the watch look even more distressed and vintage.
This resulted in the birth of three very special watches that are now at the pinnacle of the Kingsley 1945 collection. They are known as Gold Member, Black Member and Steel Member. These watches are very exclusive and limited and embody what the brand stands for.
I am super grateful to be the only one in the world to be wearing these three watches. Not even Ramon himself has any of these watches on his wrist. He so graciously made it a priority to make sure that I would be the one to field test and enjoy them before anyone else.
It’s been a week since I have had these watches and I am thoroughly impressed. Like true Kingsley 1945 watches, the quality build is outstanding! Even though they have the same dial, they are all fundamentally very different watches.
Gold Member has a solid 46 mm, stainless steel, gold plated case with bronze like finishing and black PVD hardware including the crown guard, date pusher and four working hex screws on the case. The dial is bronze and hand finished with fine brushed strokes making it look antique, distressed and very unique. The hands are black with white for contrast. This is fitted on a black strap for dress or tan strap which gives it a very World War II military look.
Black Member on the other hand has a 46mm, solid stainless steel, black PVD case and bronze gold hardware including the crown guard, date pusher and four working hex screws on the case. The dial is also the same as Gold Member, bronze and hand finished with fine brush strokes with black and white hands. This is fitted on a tan strap in reverse with the Kingsley 1945 embossed logo making it look very steam punk and military worn at the same time.
Steel Member is the most neutral out of all three watches. It has a 46 mm stainless steel case that is not plated or coated. Like the other two it has a hand finished brushed bronze gold dial with 4 original Arabic numerals. I am not a fan of steel and gold mixed but this watch is very arresting when you look at it and feels very old world. The crown guard is steel with black PVD coated, while the 4 hex screws are steel with bronze gold plated.
All three watches don’t have seconds hands or any writing on the dial . The sandwich dials are hand finished and have four original designed Arabic Numerals and a date at the 4 o’clock. The beauty is in its deconstructed simplicity . They are all equipped with original, reclaimed, automatic vintage inspired movements from the World War II era.
Due to the limited nature of watch cases, vintage inspired movements and the extra labor involved in hand finishing these dials, Gold Member, Black Member and Steel Member retail for $2,700. They take 4-6 weeks to build and are pretty much sold out! For serious inquiries, please contact me here!
