This SIHH 2014 had a lot of nice new novelties, but none of them made me really have that warm and fuzzy feeling to create a wish list. It wasn’t just one brand in particular, it was most of the brands exhibiting at the show.
This year for SIHH 2014, Audemars Piguet introduced two new 44mm Royal Oak Offshore Chronograph watches in ceramic with rubber straps.
To my knowledge, I have never seen an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore with a white ceramic case in 44 mm. This was introduced with a light silvered pattern dial with blue counters for the three registered chronograph. There is incredible contrast and visibility and this watch also has an inner blue bezel and 18k hand applied hour markers. An automatic mechanical AP Calibre 3126 / 3840 movement powers this watch and it’s fitted on a white rubber strap. I don’t know why this white ceramic version reminds me of a storm trooper from Star Wars for some reason.
For it’s darker counterpart, AP has introduced the same watch in a more masculine and classic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Offshore black ceramic case in 44 mm with anthracite grey three registered counters with red contrasting hands, hand applied hour markers and is fitted on a black rubber strap. The movement of the watch is the same as the white ceramic version, the AP Calibre 3126/3840, and both watches have date’s at the three o’clock position.
