There has been a lot of debate over the whole Panerai patina on the dials. To be clear, one of the most beautiful things about vintage Panerai watches is the natural patina or age the dial undergoes over time making it have incredible luster and character.
A lot of collectors out there don’t like the fact that Panerai ages their dials on their new watches to make them look vintage. As a good friend told me “patina on the dial is like Carrie Grant with a suntan, it just looks better” I totally agree.!
The charms of modern day historic Panerai models are the nuances and details that are celebrated like gold hands, gold lume, sandwich dial, patina, the strap, and the bottle opener buckle. All of these elements make one feel that we are wearing a watch from 1952 and once again proving how iconic and timeless Panerai Design language really is.
