Quentin Tarantino is truly one of the greatest film directors of his time. He is an absolute visionary genius and has totally re-defined cinema with his iconic style and incredible dialogue. He has influenced many and has progressed over the years into one of the most desired directors to work with.
This year, Quentin Tarantino was the recipient of his 5th Lumiere Award at the 2013 Lumiere Festival in Lyon France. This festival was created to celebrate an artist by the Leon Institute in Leon France, the birthplace of cinematography invented by Louis and Auguste Lumière, where they shot their first film, Sortie d’Usine, in 1895.
World renowned watch manufacture, Girard-Perregaux partnered up this year with the Lumiere Festval to celebrate and honor Quentin Tarantino and presented him with the 1966 Annual Calendar and Equation of Time in rose gold after the award ceremony.
This new partnership will allow GIrard-Perregaux to support the Institut Lumière in its ongoing efforts to work on the promotion of film heritage.
Girard-Perregaux also announced earlier this year that it would be the Exclusive Timekeeper and a
Founding Supporter of the new Academy Museum of Motion Pictures, to be
located in Los Angeles and slated to open in 2016.
