For the money, Tag Heuer is one of the best watch brands out there!. Just in time for Summer, Tag Heuer has relased two very cool Aquaracer dive watches with a fresh NEW look! If you are a fan of tortoise shell then you will definitely want to take a closer look at this new model!

Supringsly, I haven’t seen any watch brands do this before until now! Tag Heuer has styled the bezel on these NEW Aquaracer models to look like tortoise shell. I am a huge fan of new and vintage sunglasses, who are known for making frames out of tortoise shell. This model is available in two different varieties of blue and red/black.

They are both stainless steel and 43mm in case diameter. The blue version is very aquatic feeling with the color of the ocean and has a blue tortoise shell effect (made out of resin insert) on the 12 sided bezel with blue sunray brushed dial with applied indexes. The red/black version looks more familar and is richer and warmer looking and has a red/black tortoise shell effect on the bezel with a black sunray brushed dial with applied indexes.

Both watches are powered by the Calibre 5 which is Tag Heuer’s automatic movement(based on the ETA 2624 movement) that has a 42 hour power reserve, it’s water resistant to 300 meters/1000 feet and features a date at the three o’clock postion. In my humble opinion the most interesting part on this watch (besides the bezel) which has received mixed reviews from other press sources is the rubber strap with a pattern that is replicated to look like the surface of an alligator strap. It is very well executed, fits seamlesly and is appropriate given the style of the watch.

This watch is made to be a modern-day, elegant divers watch and that’s exactly what it is.
