The NEW Panerai Submersible PAM01800 is a revolutionary marvel in mechanical luminescence

Panerai has unveiled its groundbreaking Submersible Elux LAB – ID mechanical luminescence. This innovation marks a break from the past by drawing on Radiomir and Luminor compounds of their past in order to advance mechanical luminescence. Panerai’s PAM01800, Submersible Elux LABID, pays tribute to Elux which was first patented in 1966 and marked a leap forward.

In its original form, Elux was made up of electroluminescent paneling that were known for both their durability and efficiency. Elux, which is free of radioactive materials and resistant to vibrations, made it possible for the Italian Navy to be more efficient in low-light conditions. It equipped their instruments and pathways with lighting that enhanced efficiency during night missions.

New Elux Lab-ID PAM01800

Panerai’s Elux LAB ID PAM01800 is the culmination of 8 years of research at Neuchatel Manufacture. It features an on-demand illumination system that uses mechanical energy storage and a pusher system for activation.

Innovating arrangements are four barrels that store energy and unwind to a microgenerator using custom coils, magnets, at 80 revolutions / second. This produces 240Hz electrical signals of high frequency to illuminate various dial indicators.

Advanced Materials and Specifications

Ti-Ceramitech, a 49mm thick water-resistant material (patent-pending), is available in 500 meter thickness. This material is created by a titanium ceramization technique developed over seven-years to convert titanium alloys into ceramic layers inspired by the open seas. The titanium alloys are 44% lighter than conventional ceramics, but 10x stronger.

The watch is powered by Panerai’s own Swiss caliber P.9010/EL Swiss Automatic movement, which features 55 jewels and 28,800 VPH frequency. It has a three-day power reserve for the timekeeping function and a 30-minute power reserve for the power light feature. Six barrels are used: two for timekeeping and four to light the watch. This allows it to keep time for three days. The 363 components include hours, minutes, powerlight function, small seconds, linear reserve indicator, as well as other functions.
