Tudor drops two NEW Pelagos FXD models
Tudor, in celebration of its partnership with Alinghi Red Bull Racing, proudly introduces two remarkable Pelagos FXD models. These watches, designed for yacht racing enthusiasts, showcase the perfect blend of daring spirit and exceptional craftsmanship. With their carbon composite, titanium, and stainless steel cases, along with manufacture calibers, these timepieces embody the essence of competitive yacht racing.
The Pelagos FXD “Alinghi Red Bull Racing Edition” models mark a significant milestone for Tudor. This long-term partnership, established in 2022, ventures into the world of competitive yacht racing for the first time. Beyond the watches themselves, this collaboration brings together high-tech carbon composite—a first for Tudor—alongside titanium and stainless steel, just like on an AC75 hydrofoil racing yacht. Moreover, Tudor incorporates a chronograph caliber into a fixed strap-bars case for the first time, making these timepieces truly exceptional.
Similar to the cutting-edge engineering of the Alinghi Red Bull Racing AC75 yacht, the Pelagos FXD models employ a proprietary combination of carbon, titanium, and stainless steel for their construction. The case and bezel insert utilize a high-tech carbon composite, known for its lightweight and robust properties. Additionally, the bezel, crown, direct-action pushers, caseback, and movement container feature titanium and 316L stainless steel.
Adorned with the same hue as the AC75 hull, the matte dials prioritize legibility. While both models boast Alinghi Red Bull Racing Team Blue dials with a red-tipped second hand, the Chronograph model accentuates the aesthetics of the AC75 with red accents around the counters, reminiscent of the red stripes on the hull. Moreover, the dial layout features a subtle “Alinghi Red Bull Racing” mention on the 45° angled rehaut, enhancing its design appeal.
The Pelagos FXD models feature Tudor’s iconic square hour-markers and “Snowflake” hands, originally designed in the sixties for enhanced luminosity and improved legibility. In these models, they are crafted from luminescent ceramic composite, ensuring optimal readability even in challenging conditions.
A hallmark of Tudor timepieces, the single-piece fabric strap offers unparalleled comfort. Woven by the renowned Julien Faure company in France on 19th-century Jacquard looms, it reflects exceptional quality and robustness. For the Pelagos FXD models, Tudor and Julien Faure have developed a highly technical strap construction. It consists of a 22mm “Team Blue” jacquard-woven ribbon with red accents, accompanied by a titanium “D” buckle featuring a self-gripping fastening system, ensuring a comfortable fit for wrists of varying sizes.
